Ross
Johnson has signed for Canvey. The six-foot
centre half signed a contract with the Gulls on 19th
December and although he has an injury that will keep out of
the side at Hampton & Richmond, he hopes to be fit for
Tuesday's game against Grays. Ross comes to Canvey
following an eight year spell at his home-town club
Brighton, two years at Colchester and a short spell at
Dagenham & Redbridge. Ross actually came up to Canvey
as a junior member of the Seagulls squad for the famous
Canvey v Brighton FA Cup game a few years ago.
He will be a welcome addition to the Canvey
squad and we look forward to watching him play over the
coming season. 20/09/02 |

Canvey have been drawn
against Folkestone Invicta in the 2nd Qualifying Round
of the FA Cup. The tie is due to be played at Park
Lane on Saturday 28th September and for the winners there
will be a cheque for £7,500, as well as a place in the next
round. But in spite of their lowly position in the Doc
Marten Premier League (they are currently 20th), Folkestone
will be no push-over. Remember their pre-season visit
to Park Lane when they put five goals past us? But
perhaps the fact that they have yet to record a home win
will mean that come the 28th they will be 'concentrating on
the league!'
