The
Curry Evening organised by the Reserves management
team recently went very well. Much curry was eaten,
much lager was drunk and, in an atmosphere of fun and
frolics, a total of £277 was raised.
Future fund raising events include a
Sponsored Walk on Sunday 23rd June at Waterside car park
[10:30am].
If you fancy a five mile walk along the sea-wall to
Park Lane, ending up with a BBQ and bar, phone now for a
sponsor form. 01268 756588

Recent
reports on the Braintree Town FC website suggest
that defender Craig Davidson has left the Cressing
Road club to rejoin Canvey Island FC. This has also
been reported on BBC Essex.
'Crow'
left Canvey Island to join 'Iron' during the 2001/02
pre-season after failing to agree terms with the Manager. This report is also yet to be confirmed
by the club at this time.
At the moment Jeff King is having almost
daily discussions with new players who are seeking a move.
This is probably what has started all the rumours about
new players coming to Park Lane. At the same time
there are several Canvey players who have been linked to
other clubs, including Lee Boylan and Wayne Vaughan.
More rumours.
All this comes about since new laws
concerning players contracts gives them the freedom to
enter into talks with other clubs when their initial
contracts are coming up for renewal. Players' agents
are keen to get their clients the best deal possible and
so, at this time of year, players have talks and make
visits to various clubs and managers. Immediately
the rumour machine gets cranked up. This is the case
at Canvey Island at the moment. Just because you
read it in the Echo or heard it on BBC Essex or spotted it
on another clubs website, it doesn't become a fact until
the new contract is signed.
There will be more comings and goings at
Park Lane in the coming weeks. As soon as we get
details of contracts signed for Canvey players, either
arriving or departing, we will bring you the news here. 16/5/02
Canvey
Island FC today confirmed that defender Peter Smith
has left the club and joined Grays Athletic. Smith was
suspected to follow fellow team-mate Mark Stimson to the
Essex club after his contract had expired the end of the
2001/02 season.
However there is
no further news on the talks held between Gulls boss Jeff
King and free agent Steve Jones or indeed what stage these
negotiations are at so far.

Tilson

Hall, an offer he couldn't refuse.
Tilson
35, had been with the club for 5 seasons bearing the
Captain's armband along the way. He now joins Rob Newman
& David Crown in the backroom setup.

by Grays Athletic of another veteran, Mark Stimson as
Player/Coach.
