Disabled
The JJB Stadium offers facilities for the disabled that are amongst the best in the country. Each stand boasts two designated areas with ancillary toilet and catering facilities. Lifts are available and provide direct access to these areas which are all situated in prime positions. Each area can accommodate six wheelchairs and six helpers and in addition to these there are another 25 places available in front of each stand.

Admission for the disabled is completely free of charge for those wheelchair bound or blind, concessionary rates apply for the walking disabled and normal charges apply for helpers. Headphones are available for a refundable deposit of £15 for those fans who are blind or partially sighted and full match commentary is available.

It is advisable, however, to telephone on (01942) 774000 and pre-arrange use of any of the above facilities.

Food and Drink:
Opposite the ground is a retail park containing such fine restaurants as McDonalds, or a short walk could take you into the town centre and too many restaurants & public house to talk about.

If you proceed southwards along the canal (which runs behind the East Stand - away fans) you will first find the Seven Stars and then the Orwell at Wigan Pier.  The Seven Stars is a large pub which is an acquired taste and has perhaps never escaped the seventies.

A favourite, with away fans, the Orwell offers a wide variety of good beers and fine real ales complimented by a good selection of home cooked food.  The Orwell is also en-route from the town's two rail stations and bus station.

Also close by is the Red Robin which is a good choice and it is only a couple of hundred yards away. It is a Big Steak House and does very good grub. They also have a Wacky Warehouse for the kids as well.

Inside the ground you can expect the usual offerings associated with a ground of this size and quality. There are two bars in each stand and the only alcohol available is either lager or bitter.

Parking:
There will be around 2,500 car parking spaces available for fans on match days of which the majority are unreserved and on a first come, first served basis. There are designated disabled parking areas which are also available on a first come, first served basis. It is advisable to park in the designated areas, which are clearly marked, and not the neighbouring retail park, athletics stadium, pub, restaurants etc as wheel clamping will probably be implemented.

Accommodation:
If you are thinking of staying in the Wigan area, we have put together details of local hotels - if you are staying, why not e-mail us, and let us know - we might be able to negotiate a better rate - plus of course we can meet up for a drink.
